Valid target years for Temperature Rating targets

Hi SBTi team,

We’d like to seek your advice on the following question: What are the valid target years for Temperature Rating targets submitted Dec 2022 and Jan 2023?

  • We understand that Temperature Rating targets must be fulfilled within a maximum of five years from the date the targets are submitted to the SBTi for an official validation.

  • We also understand that SBTi provides specific guidance for valid target years using the supplier/customer engagement option under the SBTi corporate criteria
    ‘For targets submitted for an official validation in the first half of 2022, the valid target years are up to 2026 inclusive. For those submitted in the second half of 2022, valid target years are up to 2027 inclusive.’

  • We couldn’t find guidance if this rule also applies to Temperature Rating targets, i.e Is 2028 a valid target year for Temperature Rating targets submitted in Jan 2023?

Thanks for posting! The same guidance on valid target years from the SBTi corporate criteria should also be applied for Temperature Rating targets.
