Commit, validate with base year 2019?

Hi,

I understand that if an organisation signs the commitment letter it will have two years to get its targets validated. Does this mean that after commitment in 2022 it will have until 2024 to get its targets validated with a base year of 2019 (as 2019 is an exception for commitment in 2022)?

Kind regards,

Lance

Hi Lance,

Those should be viewed as two separate items:

  1. After signing the commitment letter, an FI will have two years to submit its targets to be validated.

  2. For targets submitted for validation in 2022 or 2023, a base year of 2019 may exceptionally be used due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. The most recent inventory data (2021 or 2022) must still be provided for reference though.

Thanks,
Howard
