I was wondering if the SBTi considered using a carbon budget approach instead of the emission pathways, as this article discusses: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jiec.13322
The idea definitely seems solid and could help improve the target setting mechanism (especially by accounting for potential overshoots and longer term uncertainties). I haven’t seen anything about this in SBT frameworks but may have missed it!
