I am representing a corporate that is setting an SBT but they have some investments in two small venture capital funds. They do not qualify as a financial institution under the SBTi as investments make up less than 5% of both revenue and total assets. What do we do with regard to the emissions from these investments? As they have invested only in very small companies and Venture Capital is currently optional even for an FI to set a target on, can we assume that we can exclude them from any baseline and target setting?
