Assessing Educational Institutions

To Whom This may Concern

I am writing to enquire on the following questions after finding out that SBTi does not currently assess targets for educational institutions.

  1. Would it be possible to register a Private Educational Institute under the SME category as there is no category for Educational institutes at the moment?

  2. Could some form of accreditation be provided if a private educational institution (in Singapore) considers science-based target setting methods detailed in the SBTi corporate manual and have the necessary proofs ready?

  3. Are there upcoming plans for SBTi to start assessing educational institutions in the near future? If so, what is an estimated timeline for this change to take place?

Thank you and I look forward to your response!

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for posting.

Please note that this forum is only for queries and exchanges about SBTs for financial institutions and our team can only respond to posts related to FIs.

Based on this FAQ though, the SBTi does not currently assess targets for educational institutions. As such, educational institutions can follow our guidance and criteria, but cannot submit targets at this point in time. For any further queries on this area, you can direct them to info@sciencebasedtargets.org if you cannot find the answer in existing resources on our website.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
Howard
