We are a member of the NEt-Zero Banking Alliance and have used the PACTA tool to set targets for the electricity sector. Now we are evaluating the gaps to get SBTi validation.
From the most recent guidances it looks as if PACTA is not accepted, even though in some older SBTi documents it says that “SBTi intends to accept targets developed using PACTA […]”
Can someone help?
The SBTi currently only uses three methods (SDA, Portfolio Coverage, Temperature Rating) for near-term FI targets. We have made references to meta-criteria that we plan to develop to help assess alternative methods, as a part of the FI Net-Zero Standard development process. Please note that this does not necessarily mean that they will be accepted, but rather that they may be assessed to see if they can be accepted.
