Indirect investments into Fossil Fuel and Coal industry

Hello,

we are helping an FI developing their SBTi targets at the moment. They don’t have direct investments in any Fossil fuel or Coal business but they might be indirectly exposed through investments in corporate and sovereign bonds.

Referring to FI-R10 Phaseout of coal investments, what is the SBTi’s requirement for indirect investments?

Hi Gregor, FI-R10 and FI-R11 provide thresholds on what would be in scope of the recommendations under Version 1.1. To note, FI-C17.4 provides fossil fuel guidance for the pilot test version 2.0 of the Near-Term Criteria and Recommendations for FIs.
