Financial Institution Net Zero Target

Hi,

Are Financial Institutions currently able to set Net-Zero targets?

I’m looking to set both a Near-term and Net-Zero target, with a target year of 2030 for both. The FI in questions does not hold investments/portfolios, so category 15 is not relevant (will only be setting targets for Scopes 1 & 2 and Scope 3 Categories 1-14).

We are using the Near-term criteria for FIs v2.0 for the near-term target. Can we set a Net Zero target using the Corporate Net Zero Standard, or do we have to wait for the FI Net Zero Standard to be published?

Net-zero targets set by financial institutions can only be validated once the SBTi FI Net-Zero (FINZ) Standard is published. We welcome you to participate in the upcoming second round of public consultation as well as pilot testing of the FINZ Standard draft.
