Based on one of the FI-related [FAQs], What additional asset classes will be added in the near future? The SBTi has chosen to focus on sovereign debt and equities underwriting for additional asset class method development in 2021.

Two related questions:

  1. Is there any further detail you can provide on key developments and/or ETA for the sovereign debt methodology in particular?
  2. Several working groups in progress within the industry are working on a framework for sovereign net zero target-setting and evaluation, including ASCOR; are there any plans for SBTi and ASCOR to coordinate on this project?

Apologies for the late reply. SBTi is collaborating with NZ-AOA, PCAF and ASCOR in our work to develop a targets setting method for sovereign debt.
